Meet entrepreneur Safia. She’s standing on the left, with our GHNI director Habiba.
Safia had opened a small “tea-shop business” with a few other women by the camel-watering stream that quickly took them from living on less than a dollar a day to about $15 a day apiece. But they lost it all when the bandits took all their money and burned down their tea shop.
Safia is resilient. She refuses to quit. But she has no means to restart. That’s where GHNI can help her.
Habiba is discussing a small, short-term loan of a few thousand shillings to help the women restart their tea shop. It’s not much. It doesn’t need to be. It’s less than $100. But the women will be able to restart their business, then repay it in under one month.
That’s why Safia is smiling :)
Little steps of hope.
