Very early the other morning, village leaders from Bulesa Dima wiped sleep from their eyes and trudged their way in the dark to an open field to wait for dawn by our truck.
Why? Because they wanted to meet their new "partners" back in the United States... by satellite video.
As soon as light appeared on the horizon, we made the first of three video calls back to their three partners in the US -- one church and two businesses.
The villager leaders were of course dazzled by the electronics we had balanced on the hood of the truck -- my laptop, a studio microphone, a power inverter and satellite antennae -- but they were far more excited that they would to get to see and talk with their partners.
When we say we're looking for "partners" for villages, we really mean it. We're looking for people who truly want to help a village... want to connect with their village.
And for Bulesa Dima, partnership took on a whole new meaning that morning.
